UNESCO celebrates the World Heritage Week from 19th – 25th November across countries. This year, along with our Partner NGO – Vanasthali, we took along 51 young minds to some of the prominent heritage sites of Pune on 22nd November 2019. We began the day at Aga Khan Palace, to learn about the palace’s close links to the Indian freedom movement – For two years Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi, his secretary Mahadev Desai and Sarojini Naidu, were imprisoned here, and this was followed by the launch of the Quit India Movement. We then proceeded to Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum to admire this single owner collection of around 15,000 objects in the heart of the city, Shukrawar Peth. We ended our day at the Light & Sound show explaining the Peshwa history at Shaniwar Wada.
