Bitwise Foundation celebrated this year’s Independence Day with a few of our NGO partners (Doorstep School & Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, Kirkee). Having the two initiatives planned on the same day, our volunteers decided to split themselves in two teams. One group visited the construction site at Balewadi, where they teamed with the ‘Doorstep School’ construction site coordinator. On that day the Bitwise Foundation volunteers, Doorstep coordinators, parents and the children hoisted the national flag and sang the national anthem together. Towards the end of the event our volunteers educated all present their about Swaachh Bharat and how through each ones efforts together they can make a difference. Simultaneously, our other team of volunteers visited the ‘Paraplegic Centre, Kirkee (PRC)’ where they were part of the celebration planned by PRC. Our volunteers were really excited to experience the Independence Day celebration with the Ex- Army officials. The surprise element of the celebration was the basketball match played by the Paraplegic teams that everyone present there enjoyed. We look forward to more volunteers being part of such celebrations.
It was an amazing experience to celebrate this Independence Day with the ‘Doorstep School’ construction site children. The children were really excited to share their experiences about ‘Swaachh Bharat’ and they also took a pledge to keep their surroundings clean.
I was really excited to celebrate this Independence Day with the Ex– Army officials and also witness the flag hoisting ceremony. We really enjoyed the basketball match played by the Paraplegic teams. I look forward to participate in more such events.
